Teens With a Purpose is excited to announce the inaugural Just AART Concert at the Virginia Beach Museum of Contemporary Art – MOCA on August 21st. 2014. This concert will help empower confident, engaged, literate, ethical and critically conscious young men and women with an event that showcases talent and passion of young people ages 12 to 24 in diversity and genres during this electrifying concert.
We invite you to join The Virginia Beach Arts & Humanities Commission, Africana Virginia Beach, GEICO and other supporters to help present this event. These, largely underserved, youth poets, musicians, singer and dancers from Virginia Beach and the surrounding area, will be given the opportunity to have their talent showcased on stage at a premiere Virginia Beach venue as they present original pop, jazz, rock and indie arrangements with featured solo and group performances in the form of spoken word poetry and interpretive dance.
The Just AART Concert offers hope! Too many young people feel they do not have power over the story that dominates their lives, the power to retell it, rethink it, deconstruct it and change it as times change, because they cannot imagine a bright future. This experience will offer them the opportunity to share their experience as they offer hope to one another through artistic expression! Please help make it all possible!
