Shawntae’s my name. I go to Tidewater Community College with a banging 4.0. GPA. In the fall I plan on going to ODU for theatre. I want to do music or dance – Broadway musical stuff! I’m a very real person. I speak my mind regardless! I surround myself with positive people. I have a boyfriend right now but we don’t have sex. I’m not a virgin. I started having sex when I was 15 years old with a guy that had a girlfriend. It was like, he was with me but he was with her too. I was told by friends that it felt better to have sex without a condoms. Dumb me.
I knew about HIV and std and getting pregnancy but I didn’t think about it. We just did it. We had sex three times unprotected and the second week I missed my period. I thought I was pregnant. I went to my guidance counselor at school and she told me if I thought I was pregnant that I had to tell my mom. I didn’t want to do that. So I wrote a letter to my friend explaining the issues. Report cards came out that day, so my mom went through my book bag and found the letter. She called me and told me to come home right away. I ended up getting tested for everything. I found out I had Chlamydia. I told him I was a virgin before him but he didn’t believe he gave it to me. He went and got tested and found out he had the same thing too. I got the pills they told me to take…. It cleared it right up but I was so scared I didn’t want to have sex with anybody I don’t know what anybody had, condoms or no condoms. After that, I just stopped having sex for like a year. Kenny and I are getting serious. He may thing its just about that time for us to have sex. But I don’t know. After what happened to me, I would feel terrible if it happened. I think it was a good thing that my mom found the letter. I sit back and I think about what would have happened if she didn’t read it. Where would I be now?
Whenever I do decide to have sex I want to use a condom. I figure, what happened to me then should never happen again! I’m happy now and I want to stay that way.
