Come hear the future NOW!

The Power Tour features three dynamic elements:

The Hampton Roads Youth Poetry Slam Festival has become a modern tradition, a festival of competitive performance poetry that blends written tradition with lyricism, positive music and stage acumen in a way that profoundly affects and entertains youth and audiences of all kinds. From January to May, competitive juices rise to the occasion as youth poets compete locally at some of Hampton Roads finest venues. From those competitions, we form the HRYP team and six of the highest ranking poets go on to represent this region on the international stage at Brave New Voices in Atlanta. Register as a poet here

Norfolk Youth Laureate Program is a first of its kind in Virginia. Teens With a Purpose has partnered up with Urban Word NYC supported by Pennmanship Books and the Norfolk Public Library in identifying youth poets, writers, and leaders who are interested in representing Norfolk in the inaugural Norfolk Youth Poet Laureate program. A group of esteemed judges will select one teen to be honored with the title of Norfolk Youth Poet Laureate on Friday, April 3rd at Old Dominion University Theatre at the 2015 Hampton Roads Youth Poetry Slam Fest. Just AART Concert Series helps to empower confident, engaged, literate, ethical and critically conscious young men and women with an event that showcases talent and passion of young people ages, 12 to 24, in diversity and genres during this electrifying concert. These musicians, singers and dancers from Hampton Roads, will be given the opportunity to have their talent showcased throughout Hampton Roads, Baltimore and Washington DC, as they present original pop, country, jazz, rock and indie arrangements with featured solo and group performances. The audience will witness the firsthand accounts, in the form of musical vignettes, of the true stories about how art or Just AART, helped shape their lives. Get your tickets here
