More than 1,000 Portsmouth Public Schools teachers, principals and assistant principals received a “Heart of the Harbor” cookbook on May 18, as a donation from the Portsmouth Museums Foundation.

In an announcement from the city’s school division, officials said 41 culinary arts high school students also will receive a cookbook as part of the donation. The cookbook is a foundation project that celebrates Portsmouth’s history and culinary arts and raises awareness and support for Portsmouth’s cultural venues.

“As part of the foundation’s community efforts, we wanted to share our cookbook with school-based administrators and teachers,” said Martha Fortson, executive director of the Portsmouth Museums Foundation, in the announcement. “It is a small token of appreciation for their hard work and commitment to Portsmouth’s youth.”
